Yeah, there's actually 0 parts involved besides the connectors themselves. :P I've since cut that thing up, and turned it into a serial ALDL cable for our car. That was SO cool... Our car had something wrong with it, and my step-father was out of ideas on what could be wrong... Being an electronics person and NOT a mechanic, I decided to try and diagnose it by checking out the ECM (computer heart of the car) directly. So, I built this this as a last resort, and used WinALDL to get the stats. It actually worked... I was getting real-time info about my car on my computer screen. :D It helped me find a couple problems, but they weren't fatal, and none of them were the ACTUAL problem. We ended up having to take it in. The problem was that the ECM was faulty, and it was shutting off the fuel pump when it wasn't supposed to, which was shutting off the car (not stalling, mind you, just plain shutting off). Kinda hard to find a problem with something when your using THE PROBLEM to try and find the problem, you know?

Here's the schematic, if anyone cares. This ONLY works with OBD1 cars, which I believe are ~1993s and earlier. (Our car is a 1993 Chevy Caprice Classic) OBD2 cables are much more complex...
