If you're not planning on using XP for games, you can always install it on a virtual machine.

I wouldn't mess with the Vista installation on your laptop, since you didn't get any restore CDs with it.

Is there a program on it that lets you make your own restore CDs? HP included one on my Pavillion dv5000...

Bic, Cant I just uninstall it and use someone elses Vista Home Premium Disc to install my vista again? (My boss has a few at work. Im sure he'd let me use it, as he knows I have a legitimate key.)

A big reason why Im changing to XP is that Vista takes up too much ram, and I cant even play HALFLIFE ONE mod.

Yea, HL1 mod. Everytime I try to play it, I get massive FPS drop. Like, I'll start at 60fps, and then about 10 minutes in the game, it drops to 40. Then 30, and then fluxuates from 30 and 20. Thus making me get FPS lag.
Heck, my fricken IBM thinkpad can run the same mod, like perfectly.

Everyone says that XP will fix the problem. As it uses up less ram. And I just dislike vista's "Are you sure you wanna do this" stuff. -_-

So far, Im going to ask my stepdad if he can help me fund my EEEpc tablet pc idea.

Just a bump. I know I shouldnt bump it yet, somewhat important news.

1) My stepdad is going to help me fund this. I`m also getting a job. With the money thats in my bank, I could afford this now but that money is for my car. (Yet, I may sneak a few bucks out of it. )

2) This is basically going to be a tablet version of the eeepc, running XP (slimmed down.) Just imagine a eeepc without: A keyboard and touchpad. Where will the screen go, you ask? Well, it will go where the keyboard and touchpad were.

3) Could we maybe sticky this? This is going to be a pretty awsome project on my end, and Im sure it would inspire some other modders to make a PCp, as to my knowledge a lot of PCp's didn't make it to the end. This one will. Im planning on doing a step by step process of me making this. (Like not a through tutorial, but more of a collection of info and pictures on what Im doing in each update.)

I really think that, this project could inspire some modders to make a PCp, and maybe even inspire people to finish theirs. Heck, its gonna have a lot of info in it. So, Can we sticky this thread? Thanks.

4)I need a name for my project. Any ideas?

I found something else that would be a good reference, a EEE PC tablet mod on the EEE User forums.

If you update regularly and do cool stuff, there's no real reason to have this stickied, as your thread will be continuously bumped to the top.

Hey guys. Update for you all. I have recieved some cases via polycase. (I'll be grabbing some more soon, too.)

Also, again. Can this be stickied? I could go about a week without posting an update and this thread could get lost or something. Heck, it has some pretty good PCp info in it so far, and will be getting loads more.

Bump: Hey guys. Long time no post on this topic.

Don't worry. This isnt dead. Infact, I've been trying to get in contact with some ebay sellers to see if I can pay by money order, but for some reason none of them have replied yet. I also have recieved some cash for this project from my parents. Roughly around $100 so far.

I guess if I cant get ahold of the sellers for money order, I'll use my dads credit card, or phone paypal and ask why I cant buy anything using paypal and I get an "error" that says "Paypal wants me to "Go into Extended use".
(Yea, I set my paypal so it runs from my bank account, but now it wants me to sign my creditcard up with them and go into an extended use program. It wont let me buy anything until I do. Can someone help? I dont even have a credit card. Last time I phoned, they said I went over some limit but I phoned like half a year ago. Haha.)

So yea, Also. I've been working on blueprints and designs for this Tablet.

Theres an option that turns off the limit, don't ask me where it is, I think my dad already did it to his account so I couldn't find it. Just search around in the settings.

Thanks man. Also, It seems I may have a problem with my paypal.

You know how you can see your current balance on paypals website? Well, when I put cash in my bank, it doesnt show in the current balance box. Yet I can still buy something. (Like, Say: I put $20 In my bank. My paypal will say I have $0 balance, but I can still buy something off a website for $20.)

Is my balance in my bank account for paypal supposed to show on there website?

Also, I cant seem to find the extended use thingy under settings.

My account is Varified, and Im a Premier.

Have you lifted your withdrawal and receiving limits? Just log in to your PayPal account and click View Limits on the Account Overview page.

No. You'll only see a balance if somebody pays you with paypal, or you get a refund on a paypal payment.

Paypal is getting worse and worse. For some reason now it takes up to 4 days for a payment debited directly from my account to clear (instead of being instantaneous). I suppose now that they have a monopoly for the most part, they can do whatever they want.
