FT: Gameboy Color for GB original!

I have two gameboy colors. One is teal and unmodified, the other is custom painted black with silver buttons, however, the paint i coming off pretty bad. I will trade either one for a GameBoy Original. I want to put a GBA SP in one! Or if i get some more money, a gp2x...

I've got an original gameboy. The original wall wart doesn't work, but I've got another official AC adapter for it that works fine. I'm assuming both the GBCs are in working condition?

And kindly forgive the absolute n00b question, I'm new to gaming, but does the Color play the original's games?
