My.. idea.

Post by Negative_Creep »

Today, not long ago, I set up my PC to my HDTV through VGA and a standard audio plug, then set up my wireless gaming reciever and played Dino Crisis on ePSXe, on my TV, so it felt like console gaming. For the fun of it I tried the same thing with Condition Zero and Halo (PC)... then I thought of something. Wouldn't it be cool if someone made a program that had an Xbox Live-ish style interface to it that could be easily enabled and viewed during PC game playing, with a name for the game your playing and a friends list that shown you what games they were playing as well? This is more console-gaming orientated, but I try to make my PC gaming console orientated.

Does anybody like that idea?

I'd say Steam sounds even more like what he wants, its kind of a resource eater though, so plenty of RAM is needed.

I have both XFire and Steam... i'm talking more of an Xbox Live style interface. Steam is hardly anything more than a game launcher tbh

Harshboy is pr0 :)

I love Xbox Live Friends List so I can just see whos playing and join their games immediately. Who wouldn't want this feature on PC... and Steam doesn't do it the way i'm saying.

I think Steam only lets you see what games they are playing if they are Steam games.

Reading through all the posts, I still think that what you want is Steam, for non-steam games (And steam has an option to add non-steam games now, never used it though). Under the friends tab it shows you who's online, away, or in a game, and what game they're in (and the title of the server too, I think). In-game, you press shift-tab to get to Steam again.

I don't see how it's not what you want...
