Trading post feedback system

Post by khaag »

I'm just wondering how hard it would be to implement something like this into the forums? I've seen it used on a few other forums, and it seems like it would be a much more efficient method of rating our transactions in the trading post. It's kind of a pain to have to search through like 30+ pages in the trading post thread to find feedback for someone. Just a thought.

The problem is, phpbb MODs require FTP access to the server, which only one person has (as far as I know). It would also require quite a bit of manual file editing since phpbb 2 doesn't include a modular MOD system. It would have to be hard-coded into the files themselves. Nothing that couldn't be done in an afternoon at the most, but it still takes time.

And I'm not sure how much longer we're going to continue using phpbb 2, since version 3 has officially hit the gold release stage. (It's "final".) Version 2 only gets bug fixes now. 3 has almost all the capabilities of Invision but is still free, and makes version 2 look downright primitive in comparison. Now, I'm not saying we are going to version 3, in fact we should hold off for a few months before even considering it because it's version 1.0.0 and it needs some time in the field for real-world security testing, but version 2 is going to hit end-of-life sooner or later.

Long story short, it's something Ben would have to do himself, or give one of us the FTP login to do.

Honestly I can't wait. 3 is a huge step up.

Well I don't think Ben would be objected to it would he? I'm sure he'd be open to anything that would help improve the site. Hopefully he'll see this thread. If not, I guess I'll send him an email...

Well, all I know is that I always make a review, and some people just don't. It's irritating when you don't have a credit card (OMG!) and therefore don't use paypal. You need positive feedback to prove your honesty or nobody will buy/sell/trade with you. I've done about 5-6 trades, but gotten feedback only twice. Please leave feedback! Especially when you trade or sell using money order instead of paypal.
