Gamecube Lid Disassembly/Reassembly

Post by Urshekta »

I apologize if this issue has been addressed before, however I was unable to find it in my search through the board. There seem to be a lot of guides on how to disassemble the Gamecube in general, but none of them work with the lid at all. I am going to be doing a paint job and I need to disassemble the lid, which appears to have fairly complex gear works inside. Google and Afterdawn were unable to come to my rescue, so I have come here. Does anybody know how/have a guide to dis/reassembling the Gamecube lid?

im guessing you just unscrew it and go from there. should be apble to pry off anything uneeded.

Yeah, I was able to take it apart, now it's just getting it back together. I know how most of it goes, but just a few pieces I have no clue about.

Care to snap some photos? I might be able to help with specific stuff.

I can get some pictures, but likely not until later this evening or possibly tomorrow afternoon. I am away from my camera right now.

Wow, I hadn't expected it would take me so long, but we had a lot of snow, which halted my painting. It is, however, complete so I shall post some pictures today and hopefully reassemble it.

[Out of sheer curiosity, does anyone know where I can purchase replacement Gamecube disc drives? Mine has died recently :x ]

Never mind about the help, with a little hard work, determination, and needle-nosed pliers I was able to figure it out. I am grateful for your offer, though, Skyone.

Here's the final product:
