Dear Friends, working for the French Website: www.snes-fr.com
We have some discuss about one game : JURASSIC PARK on the Super NES... and about if there is any mode 7 inside the FPS play phase (inside the buildings).
If someone car technically prove it for us, its a big discuss we had in the forum, so please give us an answer!!!
Thanks a lot!
About the Snes mode 7

Mode 7 can be used to scale and rotate a layer, to create pseudo-3D effects. (Matrix operation) As far as I remember Jurassic Park instead used 3D graphics rendered by the CPU. Mode 7 is useless for this, and my spontaneous guess is Mode 3. This mode allows a simple RGB mode, which is useful for rendered 3D graphics.
I can look into it and see if I can reach a conclusion.

actually, probably at least a solid half of SNES games (I could be overestimating though) utilize mode 7 in some way. I can think of tons of games off the top of my head that use it to make the title fly in one way or another. Other games used it during boss fights, etc. to make more fluid movements. Some games even used it to create an almost 3D feel like Pilotwings and F-Zero. However, I'm just about positive jurassic park is not mode 7, though it is interesting that they managed 3D without Super FX.bacteria wrote:Aren't these free translation internet sites great?![]()
I doubt Jurassic Park is mode 7, that was for games like Yoshi's Island and a small amount of other graphically demanding games.
There are a couple of other games that can render 3D graphics too. Considering only a small area of the screen is used for 3D and that the graphics are ugly and sometimes laggy, I don't think it's very interesting at all.17daysolderthannes wrote: However, I'm just about positive jurassic park is not mode 7, though it is interesting that they managed 3D without Super FX.
