I like your podcasts, Mr. Heck, and I must say good job on them. But dammit, I cannot let this vulgar slander continue any longer!

The Wii is NOT an update PoS from the GCN - in fact, I HAVE PROOF!

Think of every feature you can with the Wii. Take a good, maybe, two minutes. Then, watch this video:

Now you can just replace a few words and BAM - we have a Wii infomercial.

So what am I trying to point out, here? Well, it seems I have come to the conclusion that the Wii is just an update of the Nintendo 64, a twelve year old gaming machine.

Hopefully you'll see the error of your ways and make sure to let people know the Wii is just the Disc Drive of the N64 in the year 2008 with a few little updates. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yea, that's supposed to be a tag using an embedded feature that I guess this forum doesn't have. My bad.

For the time being, since our school has YouTube blocked, get any YouTube video and copy what's in the [youtube] tags over the part of the link after it says something like "u=blahblah" stuff. I know that doesn't make sense but maybe someone could help me out here?

But this actually makes me wonder - could the Wii be a pimped out GCN which is a pimped out N64? And if you look further into it, the Wii could be a rip off of the NES... But that's just if your insane. Unless someone can prove that otherwise?

Marketing spin is not a basis for judgement, and that's all that video is. By your logic, the Wii is an evolution of the Atari 5200, a 20-something year old system. (It too had 4 controller ports and innovative controllers.)

You want technical details, and in that area, you are dead wrong.

The Wii's CPU and GPU are the next step up the same product architecture from their Gamecube counterparts, like going from a Pentium II to a Pentium III. (Actually it's going from a G3 to a G4) Therefore it runs about 50%-100% faster than the Gamecube, but on the same system architecture.

Take a look at this table, which outlines the most commonly referenced bases of comparison when it comes to computer products. It has the Wii and Gamecube listed, and I threw in the PS2 for kicks. <s>I didn't include the 360 because it would eat them all for lunch.</s>

The Gamecube was a much bigger step forward over the N64 than the Wii is over the GCN, and was built off a completely different architecture, so you can't claim it's another evolution of the same thing.

As for the price/performance ratio: Slap an extra 64 MB of RAM in a PS2 and sell it for $250 and you'll have about an equivalent value.

By my findings, the Wii is, in fact, a supped up Gamecube with a BlueTooth adapter, WiFI adapter, and accellerometers.

Lame/pointless topic. But, let me say something:

True value of comparing consoles: None
True value of choosing one console because it has better graphics: None
True valuse of buying a console because everyone else bought one: None

Comparisons are fun though.
360 vs PS3? Laughing out loud.

If you really care that much about what ben says, then you have too much free time.

I'm pretty sure that he's a ps3 fanboy, but I really havent listend to any of his stupid podcasts, so I wouldn't know.

This site(now has become a blog) has strayed from its usefullness.

One could compare the Wii and the X360 for hte lulz, but it's really no point to it. It's clear the 360 was meant to be a standard gaming system with a lot horsepower, while the Wii was designed specifically to be innovative, eve though it doesn't have too much power under the hood.
