...you should be able to get a bit more battery life out of a swtiching regulator, which means more N64 goodness

......it definitely seems like your old regulator is just either poorly made or broken...

I'm pretty sure it just switches between on/off really fast, thereby not wasting so much power by simply converting extra power to heat.....

Well my 3.3 volt 3 amp switching reg and support parts are on the way...

I ordered a couple sets, you know, in case I build another type of portable that needs 3.3 volts...

In the making of story Ben mentioned the battery was going to be used for the PS2p then the Dreamcastaway. So I'm guessing its lying disassembled somewhere in the barn and is waiting to resurrected.

Hey ben, how did u get the EXT port off of the motherboard? I have been trying for days to desolder that and none of it will melt.

PS. I am using the desoldering iron sold in Radio Shack.

see thats what I thought, but I have held this thing on the soldered points for up to 2 minutes straight and have not seen the slightest sign of melting.

All I do to get the ext. slot off it pull off the black plastic and just bend the pins back and forth untill they break
