Disk-burning question

Alright, at school we were using a program called eyewitness encyclopedia of nature. I copied everything on the disk to my flash drive, and put it on my computer. I burned the disk, but when ever I put it in and start it up it says "please insert CD into disk drive". I didn't make the disk bootable or create an image or anything like that. Should I? I'm not sure and dont want to waste a disk... Thanks.

Oh, and the weird thing is, when I look at the D drive, it says "EON" and even has the icon... I figured that that would be a sign it burned correctly but apparently not.

That disc is using some form of copy protection. It means that it stores data outside of the file system, that the program tries to read to verify mthe disc.
The label doesn't make a difference here. The program probably checks it, but it's not enough to make it think the disc is ok. The icon absolutely doesn't make a difference. It's purely in the file system, and is decided bu autorun.inf+some .ico file.
You should make an image copy of the disc. But to save you some discs, install Daemon Tools on your own computer.

alright, I thought that might have been the case after a friend said that, but the disk is from 1997 so I dont think it is. On top of that, the teacher didn't have enough disks so he had some burned.

So, do I need the original disk to burn it, or can I use the stuff on the flash drive?

Needs a no-CD patch. For games I use www.gamecopyworld.com , I buy game originals, boxed, but hate having to find the game disk when I want a play; so a no-CD patch by-passes this. I have the original disks, so as far as I am concerned this is "ligit" as I bought the game. No idea if this site has what you are after, have a look...

If you find a no-CD patch for your program, it should then bypass needing a CD in the drive to start.

You could just download an iso of it. You're doing the same thing either way. Then just use Daemon Tools to mount it.
