You know what? The PS3 is not half bad. I was gung-ho for 360 for a long time. But after actually playing the PS3, I can see now that it is actually a really nice system. I mean sure, it was a joke when it first came out and to get a complete setup it would've cost close a grand, but now that the price has dropped to equal a 360 I'd definitely shell out the $399 CAD for it over a 360. Personally I think its a much classier console. The dashboard is MUCH sleeker, it has super cool video streaming (I don't remember what its actually called) to the PSP, and not to mention free online play. Plus its got a bunch of good games coming out for it now (Unchartered Drake's Fortune, UT3, Devil May Cry 4, Crysis[which won't run on a 360 BTW]). Also for what your getting, $399 is a pretty good deal. Put that type of hardware into a PC and your looking at around $2000-$2500.

Why the hell would anyone want a ps3 lappy?
Besides MGS4, Gran Turismo 5, a bunch of other games, mobile internet access, portable Blu-Ray playback, and the fact that it's also a PS2 portable, PSone portable and a space heater? Bragging rights, maybe.

Wow, that's one hell of a case for one hell of a console. Playing Orange Box without Steam = woot

Semi on-topic.. Ben, for your next 360 laptop, why not build the XFPS into it? Make good use of the keyboard in it except for LIVE :P

I think Sony worded that last sentence confusing on purpose, as to trick us into thinking that the lack of PS2 software support was a good thing. It didn't work.
or you can just check out the wikipedia here
and look at the Retail configurations section.

Ohhhhh, I like that. And considering the size of the PS3, this is actually small.

Can't wait to see the whole story!

Ironically there is still support for PS1 games. Funny, I can play FFVII, VIII, and IX, as well as XIII-? on a PS3 but I cant play FFX, and XII (Screw X-2)

I am also working on an Xbox laptop using one with the new 65nm processor. The motherboard is definitely a lot simpler, quite a bit of parts reduction.

The Apple IIgs I'm looking forward to, as it's one of my favorite old computers. Did you know they actually made Wolfenstien 3D for it? 3D, not the original overhead Apple II version.

Hot DAMN, Ben! That sucker's enormous! It will be cool to have a portable Blu-ray player, though. I also look forward to the Apple ][. You truly are a god. As are many of your forum members. I just need to get off my ass and make my own portable. Hmmm...

I don't want to make an "I'm leaving" thread, but I've sort of lost interest in this board. So if you notice that I'm gone, that's why.

The 40GB PS3 just doesn't have PS2 hardware. It could do PS2 BC with software emulation alone, it's just that Sony in their infinite wisdom said that it's too time consuming and costly for them to care.

Pretty dumb move considering it would be a key selling point to Sony fans looking to upgrade and upscale from their PS2 with a much more fairly priced PS3. The $399 price point is still a good price point considering the hardware you get for it, but um yeah it's Sony so they make dumb choices........especially when ditching substantial features that would help sell a console not doing so hot.

From my understanding the 40GB does have some improvements from the other models:

*65nm judging by the reduced power consumption.
*Stronger WiFi
*Stronger Bluetooth

The other models have some slight issues with Bluetooth's weak constant resynching so when you are playing a game, for instance, Uncharted and you are scaling a wall, all of the sudden your guy doesn't respond and the next second he is jumping off the building to a quick death.

Anyway, hopefully Sony will wise up and add BC in a future update. I love my 40GB, but my Elite is still king.
