I'm going to hack my school's Wifi.

And it's TOTALLY COOL with the SysOp! He even told me to get it done (or at least try) so I could tell him how I did it and he will figure how to prevent more attacks from there.

So, I can either use Linux or Windows - I've heard about the Able and Cain programs, and I have no freaking idea how to use airsnort or the other terminal based programs (I need some .cab file or something?)...

Then I'll try to get around the schools filters. Of course, I have permission. Just for this time. Any help would be REALLY appreciated!

Look up aircrack-ng. It's better for Linux (supports packet injection), but it only works for me on my laptop under Windows (some goofy thing involving the Linux driver for my wifi card).

Well, first I tried to screw around with their LAN servers before hitting up the WiFi - seems like their application takes care of proxy websites nicely (ugh...), I tried tons of Firefox extensions and tried using the Google translation pages to bypass... Couldn't do it.

So now I'm thinking I'd need to set up my own proxy at home so I can connect that way, I've heard it's been done before... But I just have no idea how the hell to. Especially on Linux - I know, it's the OS for hosting, but I haven't got a clue.

I'll try more stuff, and suggestions would be appreciated.

Just install XAMPP and then put the PHProxy files in the /var/www folder. It's actually really really easy.

why do they want to keep it ultra secure? is it a matter of keeping people from hacking the schools computers or do they just want people to not pirate their wireless internet?

My first move would be to run an IP scanner on the same subnet as the wifi access points and see if I could determine their IP addresses. Then, from a wired connection I'd see if I could access them via telnet or a web browser. Depending on what kind of access points your school has and how they were set up, you might be able to get into their configurations using the default passwords. You can find the default passwords for different types of equipment on the net. You'd be surprised how many times people set up all the WEP/WPA encryption, but forget to change the defailt admin password. I know it isn't exactly hacking the wifi, but it'll still be a good place to start.....and it would make the system admin feel like a complete and total d i p s h i t!

Well first off, I'm glad to hear you're going white hat on the network, unlike most people your age.

Have you tried changing the proxy server settings in the Internet Properties control panel? My high school used to ignore it when you did that, but they switched to something else (SonicWall? Something with a big blue box that came up when you went to "restricted" sites), ending our fun.

One old trick was to punch "PHProxy" into Google and pick a random server to use. For images, copy the URL from Google image search and paste it into ImageShack.

Does it block by host name or IP address?

Do they use WEP? If so, they're screwed. You can decipher it in under 5 minutes.

If they want to keep the WiFi separate form the rest of the school's network, they should have the APs behind a separate firewall, and they should be running non-routable IPs on a different subnet mask.

I said SysOp? Oops. Sorry, my mistake, DIDN'T MEAN TO DISTURB YOU SO MUCH copulate JESUS MAN CHILL THE crap OUT.

And the guy's my uncle, I've gotten around their system before so he thought I could try more stuff. I mean, it IS his job and all, to make sure his network is secure. I tell him everything I do if I accomplish something and he makes sure to see those things if someone has gone through the security again.

Lol, I beat my School's internet filters with Portable Firefox, because in their IE, it does not allow you to cange any of the proxy settings or anything.

Though, I can't log into anything, I can watch videos on youtube
