well, I just ordered it so who knows if it'll work or not. I'll thoroughly test it and if something doesn't work, I'm sure they'll exchange it (or Amazon.com will hand them their ass). I used to go to Gameware a lot like 10 years ago when my mom would go to the mall to shop. I sorta kinda know the owner because back then he was pretty much the only guy that worked there and I would spend like an hour or two there because there was nothing else to do while my mom shopped. I don't know if he would recognize me now, but if I explained who I was he would probably know me. But yeah, all their retro stuff is way overpriced, the FC Twin there was like $70 I think (which is common for a retail outlet, though my play n trade has them for $50). I think people charge for the FC Twin what they think they can get because its a "brand new super nes and nes in one" even though the nes part costs all of $2 to make (probably) and the SNES is still much cheaper than a real SNES cost to make. The mom and pop computer repair/video game store nearest me sells them for $70, but they don't buy enough volume to get them at the prices they get them online, so for them its probably just enough to make it worthwhile for them. At least they give good deals on games: NES and Genesis are 3 for $10 and Super NES is 3 for $12.kreed219 wrote:Yes, I live Baton Rouge. The place that I was talking about above was Gametrader in New Orleans. Their prices usually aren't that bad but for some reason they went crazy for the FC twin. I honestly have only been to Gameware like twice ever and was considering stopping by their to see if they had a snes for sale...not sure if they sell consoles or just the games. But if their prices are that high for games than I'm sure if they had a snes it would be ridiculously priced as well. I bought mine off of Amazon as well from videogamesdiva or something like that. Either way haowever much you spent...you got the better deal cuz yours works!

I don't know if I want to reveal my secrets <_< , they usually don't have anything good though, the only time I get good stuff is if I show up the day or day after they get stuff. OK, It's Tim's used computers, but you better not go more than once a month and cut in on my stuff or I'll cut you. If you see Streets of Rage 2, 6 pak, sonic and knuckles, or shinobi III for Genesis you better just leave it alone, or I will hunt you down and I will cut you. Although, if you do the math, unless you buy up half the stock you'll be spending more money on gas. See if there's a Play N Trade near you, they usually have decent prices and I find they have a better selection too.kreed219 wrote:What place is this? It may be worth it to drive to Lafayette for a deal like that....At least they give good deals on games: NES and Genesis are 3 for $10 and Super NES is 3 for $12.

has anyone else noticed that the NES side has B and Y for normal A and B and A and X are turbo A and B? Also, can you confirm this only works with the included FC Twin controllers and not official SNES controllers? I'm going to make an update for my Yobo FC review video and I want to make sure everyone else's is like this too. This kind of excites me since I was worried about losing my turbo since many NES games benefit from it (shooters especially) but it bums me out the real SNES controller (which I need for the cord length) won't work that way. It's really strange to me the function is in the controller instead of the console itself, unless my SNES controller is just weird, but it works fine on the SNES side and works fine otherwise on the NES side.
To kreed 219, I just thought of something that may be causing it: what do the pins look like for the plug (in the system)? are any of the pins bent? when my 32X cable was bent the picture would go crazy and there was no sound, when I bent it back, everything worked perfect, I imagine bent controller pins would act similarly. If none of the pins are bent, could they be dirty? I mean, are you the only one thats been around it or is it possible someone else may have messed with it to screw it up? I just got mine in today and I tried it with several games and they all worked flawlessly in NES and SNES mode with 1 or 2 players. Hopefully mine won't do whatever yours is doing.

The pins look fine and I even cleaned them with alcohol. Its just one of those unexplainable things. I guess since I really have nothing to lose I can try to remove and resolder the power/nes/snes swith since that really can be the only thing causing this issue....but even then I dont see how that could have happened being that this issue just came up overnight...literally...what do the pins look like for the plug (in the system)? are any of the pins bent? when my 32X cable was bent the picture would go crazy and there was no sound, when I bent it back, everything worked perfect, I imagine bent controller pins would act similarly. I don't think resoldering the switch is the answer, as its not the connection that would doing it since it still powers on, it would have to be something internal in the switch that isn't aligned right or something to that extent. See if you can take the switch apart or something.kreed219 wrote:The pins look fine and I even cleaned them with alcohol. Its just one of those unexplainable things. SIR, I BELIEVE I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER!
OK, so, today I bought a sweet 3rd party SNES controller that has L & R on the face as well as the shoulders so you can play like a 6 button genesis controller (it even has a similar D-Pad) or use the shoulder buttons like normal. It also has turbo and auto fire buttons for every normal button. So, I tested it out on the Yobo FC at my local used game store to see that everything was working on their FC Twin and sure enough, everything worked. I bring it home, open it up and clean it, then plug it into my Yobo FC Twin...glitch heaven. At first I was kicking myself because I thought I mis-assembled it and therefore just screwed myself over, so finally after taking it apart about 6 times seeing if there was anything I could do differently, no change. Finally, in desperation, I break out my real SNES to see if there is even a smidgeon of hope and I plug it in, BAM! works perfect. Go back to the Yobo, still barely working (diagonal down left would go down, start would work every 30 tries, B would work, other buttons would work if you used them in weird combinations like A+B+Y=X, a real mess). So I plug in my real SNES controller and FC Twin controllers to the FC Twin, they all work perfectly. Then I plug in the 3rd party controller to the 2nd player port, and sure enough, it worked fine.
So, based on the best logic I can muster, there is a 95% chance the problems you are having is the result of the pins in the controller port itself. Since real SNES controllers and Yobo FC controllers worked while the 3rd party did not, YET in the 2nd player slot all 3 worked, it must have to do with the position of the pins. I noticed the second player slot has one pin that is significantly higher than the other ones, almost to the point you would think it would block the plug from going in. I believe this "spread", if you will, allows all the pins (which I believe are thinner than a real SNES) to make good contact with the controller plug.

Therefore, to repair your system (from my best judgement) you need to somehow find a way to bend at least one of the pins in the controller port so that there is increased tension on all the rest, I recommend bending one "up" or "down". So, try this out and post your results, hopefully you can make some conclusive finding so I can fix this bug in my own system (I'm kinda scared to try, I don't want to break the pin completely and ruin an otherwise working system, but I really like this 3rd party controller and bought it specifically for its turbo functions for the NES side).

This is the only solution I can think of since solid state hardware does not simply "die" or "stop working" without a damn good cause (serious overheating, lots of dirt/dust, electric shock, liquid damage) so I doubt your fairly new system is truly "busted." The pins would also explain why the NES part worked since my 3rd party controller actually worked (kinda sorta) in NES mode as well since apparently it doesn't use all the pins or something.
