Anyone ever build a light spider robot?

In my electronics course at school I just built one pretty basic but hey it was still fun and i got some more soldering practice. A light spider robot is a small little robot on a chip with two motors and one wheel it has two light sensors on it and if you put it on the floor in a semidark room and take a flashlight and move it around the robot will folow it. They are pretty fun now that i built that im thinkin about makin a mini battle bot.
Heres a link its the second one down. It is stage 2 soldering project so if anyone wants to get a little practice and make something cool this might be a good idea.

Hah, thats nothing, in tech class, we ARE making really small battle bots.

Here are the rules. Max of 4 engines, any type

dimentions must around 10x10x5 cm. Were going to make one that goes under the other one and beats it to death.

Best thing is, it is part of the curriculum. so you have to do it!

You should google for some of the "antweight" and "beetleweight" class bots online. One guy built a spinner bot from parts of one of those stunt cars with the front axle that flips over, it's only 50 grams! Under the contest rules, he could use 3 of them as a "multibot" in the antweight class.

I've made a robot that follows a black line on a bright floor. It is shaped like a huge mouse, and freaks out my cats. ^^

hhmm.... did you do the line following with a photoresitor and an inverter? Or did you just use a kit to build it

I used a kit, but I believe I could make one from scratch easy enough. ^^

If I made my own, it would likely be a robot with a cup-holder though. That way I could send my Dad a Pepsi without getting off my butt. ^^

If i was to make a robot, I'd make it so you moved him wherever you were, but do something like hand_held's wavebird, for a very strong signal, and make him be able to transport items, so I could give things, but it would be hard to get him down the stairs

Accually it was Family Guy, Peter's new car kept making comparisons. Like "In Russia car drives you" or "In Russia road forks you".
