SUCKS!!! I want to go back to XP and need some questions answered!
1) Is my notebook able to downgrade? It is a Gateway MT6452.
2) What do I need to have to downgrade? Some kind of driver?
And finally
3) Where is the cheapest place to buy XP? My college sells it for about $25 (USD).
Thanks for all your help!

Death from my Desk
Re: So vista...
How would we know unless we had the same notebook? It depends if the manufacturer provided XP drivers (Vista drivers won't work on XP.) Search google, find other people that have made the downgrade.Shadeslayer wrote:1) Is my notebook able to downgrade? It is a Gateway MT6452.
Device drivers is all you need, find out the hardware that is in your notebook by looking at Gateway's specs sheet or by using EVEREST Ultimate or something.Shadeslayer wrote:2) What do I need to have to downgrade? Some kind of driver?
You aren't going to get it legally for less so just buy from from your college.Shadeslayer wrote:3) Where is the cheapest place to buy XP? My college sells it for about $25 (USD).

Go into the Device Manager and write down what all your hardware is. (Video card, sound card, network devices, etc). Then use everyone's favorite search engine to see if there are drivers available for them.
The Device Manager is in the computer management console under XP. (Right-click My Computer, select Manage.) I don't know about Vista; they dumbed everything else down so much it may be hidden.
$25 is cheap enough. You won't get a legal copy cheaper anywhere else.
If you can find proper drivers, go for it!
