Somebody hacked my Email Account.

Post by Aguiluz »

The previous day, I opened up my mailbox, and there was 72 megabytes worth of chatting to friends, emails from forums, registrations and the obligatory spam.

Now, I open it up today to find my mailbox scrubbed clean.

Nothing remained. Not even a single byte. Not a single message.

So, I changed ALL my passwords and replaced them with new ones, real strong ones.

And if the hacker who hacked my mailbox is reading this:

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO HACK MY MAILBOX!? SCRUB MY BOX CLEAN!

PM me and let's git-er done.

P.S: I think he read my post about "Grand Toilet Auto (GTA)." Well if you are offended by it, sorry, I think not all can handle toilet humor. It is not intended as an attack to Rockstar or GTA fans, as written in the rant. It is intended for fun.

CUZ I WANTED TO HACK IT LOL.

EDIT: Real response. Just email the provider of your email service and see if they have a backup of your files.

You need security - anti spamming software and anti spyware. Close the doors to this.

I contacted my Email support and, good god, they have backups.

Scanned my system with asquared and avast antivirus, weeded out 3 tracking cookies from my system, ramped up my wireless network from WEP to WPA 2 and changed the password. Updated definitions as well.

Ditched IE and used firefox, updated ZoneAlarm.

I also changed my passwords for all my net accounts from all over this realm. (aka. internet)

Problem solved!

To hacker:
YOU SUCK. What a lame thing to do.

There's your problem, right there!

I don't want to make an "I'm leaving" thread, but I've sort of lost interest in this board. So if you notice that I'm gone, that's why.

Use Thunderbird too for your e-mail client.

It isn't surprising you got attacked if you were so lax on security...

AOL recently EOL-ed Netscape, so Firefox and Thunderbird are the best choices if you want something Mozilla based.

Now here's the problem!

Okay... So it wasn't me after all.

Not a hacker too.

Bluebottle.com tech has sent me this mail:
-------------------------------------------------
Hello,

At about 2am last night Eastern Australian Standard Time one of the file
tables that handles a lot of the free accounts developed problems.
Unfortunately this was the same problem that occurred last week.

The result of this glitch caused a broad range of problems from mail
appearing to be deleted from accounts, users unable to authenticate,
mail client users unable to connect properly, and users not receiving mail.

Our systems administrator has gone to great lengths to ensure that this
problem does not occur again.

If you are still experiencing any problems, please let us know right away.

We'd like to extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience, and
we do understand that this is now the second time this has happened. We
share your frustrations in this matter. We thank you for all your
patience and continued support of Bluebottle.

Regards

Now that's the problem. However, thanks for the tips too.
