yeah it was just a re-skinned goldeneye game, noticed in the vids of the game they only show him walking up to the Warthog and not driving, right there makes me call bs on that.
If i`m wrong, yes they should finish and release it, but whoever did this halo Goldeneye skin, is a damn good programmer to have built Zanzibar, weapon models, etc.

Just because a company holds the rights to a game license doesn't mean they just hand it over to a new company if they want to publish for their platform. Besides, a company like Microsoft is always searching for economic opportunities, and the DS is a HUGE market. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they managed to pull off a money-grab on the little handheld. Oh, and whether or not Microsoft still holds the rights to Halo completely is under extreme scrutiny. Since Bungie left to become and independent studio once again, they're fighting for creative rights to the license. But even if they do manage to win partial usage, they'll probably have to publish exclusively for Microsoft for some period of time; that is, if Microsoft doesn't buy up their rights then and there.ChrisS wrote:Microsoft holds all the rights to Halo, there is no way they are letting Nintendo have it.

The agreement is that the Halo franchise is Microsofts. Bungie has no control over Halo unless it is with Microsoft. They can now design other games multiplatform if they wish.CronoTriggerfan wrote:Just because a company holds the rights to a game license doesn't mean they just hand it over to a new company if they want to publish for their platform. It wouldn't make any sense at all to put Halo on any other device. Why would Microsoft want to help sell more Nintendo DS units?
Halo sells and moves 360 consoles, there is no business sense putting it on any other machine.

It wouldn't be the first time that Microsoft made a game for another companys system. Microsoft released a game on a Nintendo platform before. They released a version of the "Best of Microsoft Entertainment Pack" for the Gameboy Color in 2001. Around the same time the XBOX came out. More about the game here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_of_Wi ... nment_PackCronoTriggerfan wrote:Just because a company holds the rights to a game license doesn't mean they just hand it over to a new company if they want to publish for their platform. I hope that they see that there is a market for this game. And dollar signs are attached to what they see too.
Unless they screcetly owns stocks in Nintendo. In that case it would gain them money. Make sense?ChrisS wrote:It wouldn't make any sense at all to put Halo on any other device. Why would Microsoft want to help sell more Nintendo DS units?

As I said before, the Halo license will be settled, most likely, in court. Microsoft currently has the MAJORITY of rights to Halo, but I don't think Bungie will take that lying down. And it actually would make sense to put Halo on the DS. As I stated before, it's a gigantic market, and besides, everyone knows that video game profits are from software, not hardware. It makes perfect fiscal sense for them to try such a thing, especially when Microsoft isn't even a competitor in the handheld gaming market yet.ChrisS wrote:The agreement is that the Halo franchise is Microsofts. I don't think it will ever happen, but it would be a nice fight to watch to say the least. You also have to consider, being that Halos MP is the dominant part of the game what happens to DS players if it were to ever come to the DS. I'm not so sure you could integrate DS players, 360 players, and in the future (in regards to Halo 3) PC players. It could be DS only through WiFi linkage, but that would depend on Bungie launching new DS only servers.CronoTriggerfan wrote:As I said before, the Halo license will be settled, most likely, in court. It's huge for Nintendo, not so much for the PSP. Besides the success of the DS and other Nintendo handhelds it is a very very fickle market. If Microsoft thought that the handheld market was truly profitable and worth it then they would have entered it with their own handheld. Microsoft is not shy to tackle new markets and they have shown no interest in handhelds. And it actually would make sense to put Halo on the DS. True, but now more than ever due to the RRoD fiasco of the 360 they need to get more profits for the 360 hardware and Halo has no problems selling on the 360 without other hardware in the mix. Plus, it sells Xbox 360s like no other game ever will.everyone knows that video game profits are from software, not hardware.
Not really for the points I've already made. Xbox fans have been pushing for handhelds for a long time and flooded the Xbox boards with the suggestion for years and Microsoft hasn't given any attention to it. I think Microsoft has written it off as Nintendo territory and don't plan on bothering with it, but this is all IMHO.It makes perfect fiscal sense for them to try such a thing, especially when Microsoft isn't even a competitor in the handheld gaming market yet.
