No Sound - NES

Been working on a NES portable by hand following Ben's book. I've got everything hooked up, but for some reason their is no sound.

I'm thinking it's the NES and not the PS1 LCD that is the problem. Can I wire a speaker right onto the NES board? If so how, can I just wire the speaker right on to the audio output with one wire and then have the other wire grounded on the edge?

you need the screen audio amp. You would barely be able to hear it if you wired it right to the board. Check to see if you hooked the audio to the input right, that's all you can do

You can wire a speaker that way, but the signal isn't very strong so you'll get quiet sound, if any at all.

Try running another audio source through the screen, or temporarily wire the audio leads on the NES board to another line-level audio input (like computer speakers or a stereo).

Do you have the 3 "headphone" pins soldered together on the PS1 screen?

Yes I soldered the three headphone connections together on the back of the ps1 screen.

I connected (ie. just touched the speaker input cable to the the NES audio out ) the NES to a computer speaker. Just a dull static noise. The only thing I did to the actual NES board (besides removing the big metal box) was to de-solder three blue capacitors and then resolder them laying down flat.

I resoldered the blue capacitors, and now the sound works. Just got to finish the controller. Again thanks for the help.
