PS1 analog stick
Are the PS1 analog sticks required for any games or will the Dpad be ok for all games?
We elves stick to the four main food groups. Candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup.

Ok, so I did some research and it seems like the only game that it is REQUIRED in is Ape Escape. That's all fine and dandy but what about the other way around. Do you guys know of any games that require the D-Pad? So in other words, are there any games where the Analog stick can't take the place of the D-pad?

Im not sure on that one. But if you wanted to completly omit the D-pad, you can modify an analog stick so it acts as a D-pad. Here .is the how to.

all of the games released prior to the introduction of the Dual Shock controller are not compatible with the joystick. Some examples are Tomb Raider, the original Need for Speed, ESPN Xtreme Games, etc. etc.christian.kang wrote:Ok, so I did some research and it seems like the only game that it is REQUIRED in is Ape Escape. Also, yes, Ape Escape is the only one that requires it because it needs the two joysticks because of the control mechanics. I think a lot of it was just a gimmick to try to make the Dual Shock seem worthwhile to non-dual shock owners. At the very least, the games that are D-Pad only tend to have a well calibrated feel to them unlike D-Pad control on many PS2 games.
