thread = martial arts... namely those combative aspects using one's body, not a weapon or your mind... and it has some pretty decent discussion, yet has come a long way from CTfan's original posting's questions. And compared to martial arts, shooting's really not that much of a skill thing, yes longer range shooting is, but shooting an attacker isn't, and it's really not something that's 'cool' I know, I have cop friends, the stories I could tell... but anyways, I'm OT now to.

Not if I am too fast for you to get a good shot, you can't hit me, and I kick your stomach, causing you to release the gun, and if not, that would at least make it easy to take. Not like I am dumb enough to try that if a man has a gun.

I take Kenpo JuJitsu, and I love it. The Kenpo aspect is all the punching, kicking, striking stuff, while the JuJitsu gives me rolling, falling, grappling, throwing, locks, and pins. The place I go to is a smaller, mom-and-pop place, as opposed to "Ernie Rayes" or those other commercialized, money-hoarding dens of greed.

If you've never heard of JuJitsu before, just imagine Judo. Judo is a watered-down version of JuJitsu which can be used in competition. JuJitsu cannot be used in competition...it's designed to kill, maim, or otherwise brutally injure one's opponent in any way possible. Obviously it can't be practiced in a competition setting...unless you want to drag the mangled bodies off the floor.

Our Shihan is pretty awesome, and definitely legit. This guy tried to rob his house once and he took him out. Four broken ribs, ruptured kidney, broken arm, and various bruises - lets you know that what he's teaching you works! (And he said he let the guy off easy!)

i used to study TKD. with a very small group that met in the basement of a church. now that i go to school i visit occasionally and sometimes help teach the younger students. but since i've left to go to school the group has grown massively. when we had about 5-10 students in the late class, now they have around 20-25. i was a purple belt (should actually be a red one) before i left and i still have all my belts and uniforms.. i miss it. ^^

Why'd you guys bump an old topic when there's one about the same thing that's still active? Locked.
