the original Driver is way better than Driver 2. Hell, I even like Driver better than Driver 3 for PS2.
There are a ton of good games for PSX:
Need for Speed (there are I believe 5 for PSX)
Future Cop LAPD
In the Hunt
Tony Hawk 1 and 2
Thrasher Skate and Destroy
Syphon Filter (and sequels)
GRAN TURISMO 1 and 2 (AMAZING games)
Tomb Raider (and sequels)
Ridge Racer (and sequels, especially R4)
Crash Bandicoot (and sequels)
Tekken (and sequels)
that should be a good start.
