Hey guys, I'm writing an essay for my english 12 class and need an idea for a witty, and interesting topic. It is supposed to be a cause and effect essay. I'd like to go away from overused topics like politics and abortion and capital punishment and the like.
Any ideas would be appreciated... especially in the next half hour as its due tomorrow morning

I don't want to piss my teacher off... I just want a funny/interesting topic. This thing is worth 20% of my entire grade... It wouldn't be good if I pissed her off. Cause and effect - easy - how about a story along lines of:
(first person tense, ie you): 15 year old, in group of "friends" in town centre, daring each other to do whatever, one dares you to do into the nearby store and steal an item "for a laugh" or whatever stupid reason. You get caught by security staff as you exit the store, citizen arrested and put into the back room for the cops to arrive and nick you properly. Your mates saw your arrest and were laughing at you. You get arrested, taken to the Station, because you are a juvenile, your parent get called and have to attend as appropriate adult for interview, they see at interview your theft from CCTV and the Statements from the store staff. You get a caution for first offence, when you get home you get grounded and ordered not to see your "friends" again, and when you see your "friends" in school they laugh at you. Cause and effect.

Effect: You jump on a forum site to ask the major nerds/geeks from around the world to help with a subject.
Or
Cause: You only have one day to write a paper and don't know what to write about.
Effect: You fail your class, drop out of school, can't find a job, and tun out to be a homeless bum.
