I just installed a new sleek style to my XP, ah it looks amazing.

Also I made a switch over to using Web 2.0 apps!

I haven't had any stability issues with my Vista Ultimate install, however some older programs aren't compatible, particularly DOS apps that ran fine in XP. I still don't like it though, it's really the same as Windows Me. They took out features and made it look slightly pretty, and now all of a sudden it's "easier to use". BS.

After I backup all my stuff I'm going to go back to Windows XP.

Have you even USED Windows ME? Sure, it did pretty things up and added a higher price tag, which is much like Vista, but it also had HORRIBLE compatibility with previous generation software, crashed at the drop of a hat, and had numerous software glitches and errors, nothing to the extent Vista has.

Yes I have, in fact, it was my first computer's first operating system, and I had to deal with it for like two years. Microsoft acknowledges that Vista is incapable of many operations due to the super-duper lock-down on its kernel. HORRIBLE for programmers and programs in general!

Hmmm a lot of the stuff I've heard never happens on my computer. Seriously, my Vista has had not a single application crash once. It might depend on the computer specs of your computer but im not sure. Also, why would anyone use IE? Even if it was your moms computer, you coulda showed her another app is better. I use Opera, just because its a sweet browser. Oh and the Windows ME comparable thing? In no way its comparable. I cant remember who voted it, but I remember reading somewhere that Windows ME was rated the worst oporating system ever. Vista is definitely not comparable to "the worst OS ever."

Hardware has little to nothing to do with it. It's what you use your computer to do (you apparently use it to do minuscule tasks). Secondly, why wouldn't anyone use IE with a Windows computer? Shouldn't Windows be able to support it's own software? *shrug*

Actually, come to think of it, your right. I do use minuscule tasks. I do play some games on it, but not much. Just the thing is he was just doing HW and going on IE 7, and it still manages to crash. Also, I know its suppose to support its own software, but I garuntee 75% of benheckers dont use IE, because we al know people bag on IE on this forum.

All modern OSs self monitor I know, but the OS should not have the power to lock down functions. That is crap. I say screw Vista.

I'm a user of the classic grey style myself. I love it, and I wouldn't trade it for the shiniest style in the world. It may not be as beautiful for some (personally, I love the look of it), but it's functional and doesn't take up as much space. And that is the most important factor. Have you looked at the windows XP taskbar, and then at the vista task bar? It keeps getting bigger!

I agree, though I have the title bar fade from orange to yellow. I also have it pulled up an extra unit, so there can be 2 rows of Quick Launch icons and programs. Barely takes up as much space as Luna thats 1 high (especially when you take the title bar of the window you're using into account). I also have task grouping disabled, I think it sucks and reduces productivity.

Never had the misfortune to use Vista besides in-store, I think it just seems like a new theme for XP.

hah! So did I! I noticed my quicklaunch icons were getting so many, so I'm a user of two "stripes" myself, now. Which is another thing that bugs me. Why the hell is the quicklaunch bar disabled on default? What's up with that?
