They're looking for them, and haven't found a dangerous one. Yet.
The Grand Canyon; bye bye dinosaurs. Actually, there have been many "near misses"; if/when one is going to hit us it will, there is nothing we can do about it. Bye bye. Just a matter of time.
I thought the Grand Canyon was carved out over millions of years by the Colorado river and its tributaries... :? But yeah there's nothing we can do about an asteroid unless we all "fire ze missiles" and it says "screw that" like in the video samus linked earlier. (Unless we all fire ze missiles at the asteroid... Then it would just hail chunks of rock. That's not as bad, right? Right? :D)

Alaska can come to.
I lol'd.
The Grand Canyon; bye bye dinosaurs
The Chicxulub Crater was left over from the dinosaur bye-bye event. It's something like 100 miles in diameter, and largely buried under the yucatan peninsula and the gulf of mexico.

The only thing I can see leading to an instant death for the entire human race would be a very, very large asteroid. Nuclear war would leave survivors, a virus would leave survivors, most asteroid impacts would leave survivors. Most of the objects we've picked up that could someday pose a threat are not overly large. Yeah, they'd decimate a continent and ruin the atmosphere, but we aren't dinosaurs. We have intelligence, and we have technology.

So yeah, either A) a comically large asteroid "it's the size of Texas, sir," or B) an event foretold in a fairy tale.

EDIT: To Below: Fix'd

It wouldn't be a meteor, it would be an asteroid.

I don't want to make an "I'm leaving" thread, but I've sort of lost interest in this board. So if you notice that I'm gone, that's why.

Hopefully on a trip in Toronto, there's lots of guns there. I'm sure HD-C has at least 5. The only thing more fun than killing people is killing people without feeling bad and without consequences! It's EXACTLY like Real-life GTA!

Of course, the Jack Thompson zombie will be all "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuujhhhjhhh...stop t3h h8 VG playas!...uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuujghgjjjhhhh"
Seriously. I'm hoping for when I'm at school or at home. At school, I can find ways out that I know well (mines an old school, tons of abandoned rooms and such) At home, I can go to Cvs and hole myself up in there.

i have guns and big heavy armorable vehicles and know people with practically their own damn aromory (shotsguns pistols assualt rifles high powered hunting rifles equipment to make ammo etc) so i should be good in case of zombie uprising (im a pretty decent shot with my marlin 22, wont put a zombie down but a couple shots to the head ought to, from 100 yards out!)

I have...an underpowered minivan, an air rifle (pump-action spring-powered kind, from the 70s), and a few kitchen knives...

But Toronto, they have buses. And they have lots of hand guns. Of course, I can pimp out the bus Dawn of the Dead style, head down to New York City, rob a gun store (if it hasn't already been looted), and drive down to some desolate island.

I think not. See the opening scene of Land of the Dead. They go get booze and one of them gets zombie-fied.

If we're going to talk about what we'd do in face of zombie infestation, then heres the cool anti-zombie crap I have.
3 of our 4 vehicles are four wheel drive, plus 2 four wheel drive ATVs. Also have 3 high power rifles (2x .30-06, 7mm), 3 handguns (.22, .38 special, 9mm), about 8 .22 rifles, and a 20 gauge shotgun. If we stocked up on ammo and gas, I'd feel sorry for any zombie that decided to come after us. Makes me hope 2012 is real, as long as its zombies.

The only way to survive a zombie attack is to outlast them, and that is going to be damn hard. I think ones best chance is too barricade themselves somewhere with as much food as possible NON-perishable! Also, if possible somewhere with a big enough space to have a hydroponic garden. Air isn't a problem, but be sure you make the vents impossible to enter through. Also make sure you have a TON to do because it is going to get awfully boring after a few weeks, and you want to stave off that temptation to leave.

Or you can fence off a city like in Land of the Dead, just hope the zombies don't get smart.

I always worry that the zombies are going to get smart! Never trust in collective zombie dumbness.

I'm basically a british hillbilly so I'm sorted. Last count we had about 10 guns and more ammo than I care to even try to count.

Once the world is coming to an end, I hope it will involve space pirates somehow. That'd be worth dying for. y2k38!!!

But seriously, I believe that we're all going to die in a big global thermonuclear war (see what I did there?)

Don't you mean Y2K-388?

I'm rooting for (and possibly engineering...) a zombie super-virus to end (most of) mankind.
