I suggest against that. If you do, you will be lugging around a huge tank called a "portable", and pretend you enjoy playing it, just like 65% of the 8-bit portables that are huge. N64 and beyond make sense because there aren't really usable N64-OAC's yet.

Exactly. I fail to see how anything that's about the size of a system, with a screen strapped to it, counts as portable.

Lemme explain it's simple logic.
We build portables for 100% compatibility else we could just use emulators.
noac = not 100%
nes = 100%

Im starting to follow this same logic, my portable is fairly small 9"x3" by 1.67" deep thats pretty f'n small for home-made woth a 3x5 lcd display. I know I can fit a noac inside of it EASILY I'm not sure about a original NES mobo Im not thrilled about cutting the mobo down. but if I have to...I will

okay It's official I will be making 2 portables. I will be compleating the one made with the super joy III in about a month (funds short due to x-mas damn kids) Then I will be attempting a portable N.E.S. with a cart slot
Im not sure about if Im going to use a yobo or an accual N.E.S. mobo.

Here's the thing- if you want the whole library, just don't even think about doing it with anything other than emulation. Sorry, it's not happening. Power Pak is a nice product, it has all the USA mappers, just not some of the highly exotic Japanese mappers. Here's the other thing, if you have a PSP that already has the Roms, then why do you need to have another portable that also has all the roms? You can't play through all those games in a lifetime anyways, and why have a second portable which can also play them all?

Aside from my confusion about why you'd want to do this, I do think it's theoretically possible, but only if you're a graduate engineering student and you can design your own hardware for the mapper selection hardware.

I've given up the idea of having all the games, I have decided just to buid a basic super joyIII portable. AND a second portable with a cart slot. Why am I doing this? I thought would be a fun to tackle something like this. Do I need to build a portable or two for that matter? no not in the least. your right I have my psp, this is just somethingIm interested in doing.

okay the Holidays are over and Im back to working my 12hrs a day mon-thursday "stiff" job which means I have evenings free agin and I will be getting back to working on my two portables (N.E.S.P. and a NOAC.P) I have my cases my SJIII's (I figureI'll fry at least one so I bought a few) and 4 spare N.E.S.'s (again I may fry one or two so extras are nice to have around). I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I think that accurately reflects the thoughts of anyone who has built a portable, ever.

What screen are you using? Also, if you need pointers or help when chopping up the SJ3 just let me know
