Post by m_lovitt »

I am 75% compleat with my nesp (noac) my superjoy has/had a famicom slot I have a 60-72pin adapter..heres my question, I do not want to have to use carts with my portable and the built in roms suck is there a way for me to put games/roms I accually like on a cart and encase that in my project? i.e. dump my roms onto a flash cart? Im new at this so forgive me if this has already been asked

Yes it is. you'd just have to get the right IC, or even an entire flashcart, and solder that straight to the cartslot pins.

here are some links for you:

Euhm it's pretty much drag and drop, once you get the card configured for the first time.

The PowerPaks don't work on NOACs, remember that.

okay then should I scrap my original idea and use a old nes mobo for my portable..(input suggestions here) I just dont see the practicallity of a "portable" if you have to toat around bulky nes carts. okay from 75% compleat to less than 10% in a day wow what a bad day. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome

I understand where you're coming from, but the way you want to do things would add bulk to your machine no matter what, and even if you did manage to make it small, as you mentioned before, you'd still be lugging cartridges everywhere. You see, portables aren't so much practical as they are a labor of love and works of art. If you want size and functionality, get something that can emulate NES. Old PDAs, PSPs, even GameBoy Advances do it now.

lobor of love I'm fine with but I also want functionality. I have a modded x-box (softmod w/emulatores gba/nes/snes/genesis) and psp I love to show my friends that I have a the whole NES catalog on my psp. I am building this portable as a challenge, I want something that looks a modern handheld (slightly larger) with the compleat NES libairy already built in to it. If this is something that can be one great if not, I will just stick with the super joy III 's built in games

Well if you want the "entire library". Don't use a noac. They've been known to be incompatible with a lot of games. Powerpak is better and has a lot of so called "mapper support". But even that isn't 100% since theres sooooooooo many.

On Retrousb.com, funny story: I actually know that guy from an irc chatbox. However I believe it doesn't work on a large range of noacs. So if you use it use an original nes mobo. (then you'd have most games exept some mappers)
