something I have been wondering about sertain controllers

you know those rond plastic things that are snaped on right before the port with metal in the inside of them on the outside of the cord the playstation has one xbox has one virtual boy has one to name a few

what are they for? are they just weaght to keep the cord down

I broke the one off the virtual boys controller years ago and it always worked fine

normally for cutting down on interference in the data signal, although some companies seem to only put them on for looks.
