LOL More questions and less answers.

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

LOL More questions and less answers.

Hey everyone, I've decided to name myself
"The PC Assassin" because I always seem to mess something up with a computer.

My other laptop is COMPLETELY fried, and I'm getting a new one hopefully tomorrow. My dilemma is RAM. I need 2 2gb ddr2 "cards" and I need them cheap, lol. Could anyone help me here?

Secondly, I need a cable of some sort to transfer an HP harddrive. What info do you need and what kind of cables are there?

Thirdly, could someone direct me to an external harddrive that is cheap and can be disconnected fairly often without data failure? I need several hundred GB as I am into graphic design and music composition. Also, I'd like it to be USB 2.0 powered, do you recommend this?

Fourthly, could someone tell me if the following programs are known to "fark up" a PC?:
AIM Triton 6
Yahoo Instant Messenger
Skype
Anything on Lifehacker
Rocket Dock and the like

Fifthly, is ending the "explorer.exe" thing bad? I use that to restart...will it cause system instability?

Lastly, could someone tell me if the following things are worth it:
Slingbox
Wireless XBOX360 Mic

Thanks everyone!

Newegg.com and call them "sticks" or people will think you are nuts. Make sure to buy the right type.

What are trying to do? The new laptop will have a new hard drive and a fresh copy of Windows, just get an external drive kit for the old laptop drive and transfer the files via USB.

Newegg.com, check the egg ratings and reviews.

If you're sloppy with security anything will mess up your system. Instead of using multiple chat clients use one chat client like Trillian for all of them. Anything AOL is usually bad.

Considering Explorer is the windows manager of the operating system, yes it will crash.

Slingbox = dunno.

Wireles Xbox 360 headset = some people swear by them, many people find them problematic, echoes, disconnects, etc. Personally I prefer to stick with the wired headsets.
