PSL : Playstation Laptop (Almost done)

Hi everybody! New to this forum, have been browsing it for around 4 months but havent been able to register, never got a confermation mail, and yes i checked the junk bin.

Now back to the topic, after a while i wanted to make a portable myself so i looked around and found an old broken laptop, a psx and my old 10" computer screen. Hmmm, Then an idee was born!

I will merge them inte a PSL! (Playstation Laptop)

So i have been working on it for a while now, donÂ´t have much time to work on it becouse school and stuff. But now iÂ´m done with the parts and the case is almost done, just need bondo to finish it.

I will not make this a portable becouse it's my first project and don't have right parts for it.

Is it the laptop screen or a seperate screen? If it's the laptop screen may I ask how you got that beast working with the PS1?

It's a seperate screen that i hot glued a par of cheap speakers on.

Was that laptop by any chance a Micron? I parted one out a couple months ago (because it was really beat up and the processor was fried), and it has that exact same keyboard. A filler plate might look better than the keyboard.

Why not make it using a PStwo? You'd be able to play PS2 games, and the small new ones come with a drive cover you could hack into the keyboard hole.

Nope, the laptop was a Euronote, never heard about it before, got it from a friend. I wanted it to be a PS2L but diden't have any parts, only had a psx, old tft screen and the broken latop. And i don't have any money to spend right now,

But a PS2 Laptop will be my next project and it will be much better than this one and smaller.

Maybe it will look better with it a cover plate, but without the keyboard you can't start it by pressing the "CTRL" button.

And it's HUGE! but i'm only building it for use in school, we have like 3 hours breaks every monday and friday. It's crazy!

Edit: My next project will not be a PS2L, it will be a computer case that looks like the Companion Cube from portal.

Hows that gonna work? It wont.

I can tell you that now.

If your talking about hooking a ps1 up to a laptop screen, which is still attached to the laptop. That will work fine.

But if your talking about hooking a ps1 up to a laptop screen, which has been removed from the laptop, that wont work.

As, theres no converter. Thats just VGA, and if I recall, VGA cant hook into Digital. Also, How are you gonna plug it into the screen? Most computers have the VGA input connected to the main motherboard. If you take the screen off of the motherboard, theres nothing to connect the VGA coming from the thing you bought, to.

Know what I mean?

Unless your laptop screen, has the vga converter built into the screen.

If, you still wanted to do this, I suggest buying a LCD screen with a VGA input built into it. So presto, you can plug the VGA thing into it, and your ps1 will be playing on the lcd screen.

Wait, iÂ´m not going to use the laptop screen, iÂ´m using an old computer screen, that have VGA, and the converter iÂ´m buying convert tha ps1 video signal to vga signal. Sry if i wasnÂ´t clear on that point.

Test running the screen on my 360. Go Red vs Blue!

As you see on to the left in the picture you can see the VGA contact.

No real progress on the case but i think it will be done on the next weekend.
