Wii Crash... AGAIN!

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

Ugh, this is so frustrating. After my first Wii, that I got on launch day, died on me (first the fan, then the disk drive, then the whole thing), the second Wii that I got brand new about a month ago has just went out on me. :( It crashed playing an NES VC game, of all things.) Fortunately, it's still under warranty, but it still sucks not to have it for my long weekend and then Thanksgiving break, too...

Question is, have any of you guys had Wii issues? And if so, ever had one crash playing the Virtual Console? I would have guessed my 360 woulda been the first thing to go, but it's still running problem-free at this point. That being said, I play it about once a month for all of an hour, but even so, the fact that the Wii has died TWICE now isn't too reassuring.

I guess the scariest part is that I could lose all my Galaxy data, 52 stars! So close! Oh well, it happens, I guess.

Well my GPU asplode I guess. Creates those random black pixels scattered around the screen. I'm simply waiting to get a new one when some other features (HDD, DVD compatibility?) are added.

Anyways - HA! Sucks for your unfortunate ass.

My GPU has had the minor RGB sparkle/black lines thing since about late may. Finally sent it in this week to get fixed. Should hopefully have it back my next friday.

Had mine for about 2 weeks, no problems so far, apart from the damn IR sensors. I know they're necessary, but my knee often gets in the way, and many other things create a recognized light to the wiimote, like the lava lamp, red led on the audio reciever, and all the lights, so I can't put it above the TV.

What problems should I expect?
Hey, sup?

I've had mine since around February, no severe issues. The only problem I've had is that the internet browser crashed a few times, with the new version can usually power off with power button, old version you had to unplug. :x

How do you have yours setup? Mine is vertical with plenty of air space around it. Only one side ever gets hot, and that is the side with the feet if you put it laying flat. I can easily see killing one if you had it on carpet laying flat because of that.

my gpu esploded on me for the 2nd time since the begining of last june, just about to send it in, but I just got Mario Galaxy and the pixles are not terribly bad yet, and the whole thanksgiving break would be boring and would have to resort to using my DS web browser which is slow as hell.

And my friend`s Wii won`t read Wii games very well at all anymore, so he has to get his repaired too.

Didn't ya hear? 'Tis only for the Japs, well, that's the rumor going around at least. And even if it does come to America, it definitely won't be for a while, sadly.

Well, I kept my first Wii vertical sitting on a shelf, but keeping it that way was what screwed the disk drive. Now I keep it flat on a shelf, with a Nyko USB fan in the back to keep the whole unit nice and cool. And it still breaks on me. Playing Ninja Gaiden of all things! :(

Oh come on - you know you were planning on playing it all over again :P

Are you going to be *gasp* Wii-less for the holidays? I guess you'll have to go cry on Assassin's Creed's and Mass Effect's shoulders... All teasing aside that's some lousy luck you have there. I guess the best that can be said is that it died before the warranty expired and not one day after.

To bad Assasin`s creed was a huge letdown, only scoring a 7.7 on IGN, hell Mario & Sonic at the special olympics beat it with a 7.9, and I played that and thought it was horrible.

Woohoo!!! Ubisoft screws up yet another suposed to be epic game.

True, but I imagined my first re-play being with Luigi. Plans change, I guess.

And yes, I'll be void of a Wii until early December. I was planning on getting Assassin's Creed anyways, but as people stated before, reviewers are bashing it hard for a terrible combat system and repetitive gameplay. Hopefully the epic storyline will be enough to keep me in it. I never did get Oblivion, though, perhaps I should grab that one up.

And Turbo, you've had 3 360's? Ouch, man. After I get this new one, I'll be on Wii #3, hopefully my luck isn't as bad as yours! :P

I've had NO problems with my wii at all. :S

No freezing, no GPU problems, no nothing. I havnt played it in a while, but this weekend, I'm buying Links Crossbow training (Comes out nov. 20th-ish. Dont worry, its like $30, and comes with the wii zapper.)

I'm also buying Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicals (Came out like 2 days ago. Its compatiable with the wii zapper. Thats the main reason why, I'm buying the zelda crossbow training, as it comes with the zapper. And really, a rail shooter is NOTHING without a gun attachment. Right?)
