LED screen websites

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

LED screen websites

Post by yuravian »

okay... I made a portable SNES, but i don't like the idea of hacking the screen myself. Are there any websites where i could order a modded screen, or anyone who could hold on to one for abt a month? (so i can get the money to pay you for it)

Well, you don't HAVE to have an LED modded screen.
The fluorescent backlight will work just fine, but use more power. And with the fluorescent you can adjust the brightness :)

And there are no sites as of yet where you an buy a modded screen (yet  ).

Depends on the battery.

Yep, find out the batteries mah, then find out the systems mah draw, then do this:
mah for screen / mah for system =
This should give you how long the system will last in hours.

You mean, mah for batteries / (ma for screen + ma for system) = time :P

well, it should be mAH of batteries / (mA of system + mA of screen)

picky, maybe, but it helps the newbies that couldn't figure it out.

Thanks, Sponge! The parenthesis are important.

Of course, this equation simplifies to:
time = mAh/mA
You'll have to measure the actual mA flowing from the batteries for this version. If you use a switching regulator, you could find that battery current is LESS than the sum of the system and screen currents.

Also, battery mAh ratings are for very slow discharge, like 10 or 20 hours I think. When you discharge them faster, you get less energy out (more of it goes to making the battery hot). So multiply your "time" result from above by 0.8 or so for a more accurate estimate.

It read:
well, it should be mAH of batteries / (mA of system + mA of soup)

picky, maybe, but it helps the newbies that couldn't figure it out.
:P It did, really!
