Hey there everyone.
first post, here. Be nice.

Just wanted to start this topic off and see if any others are interested.

I'm a first time modder, I've owned a modded xbox for about 3 years now, but a friend did the mod for me and I've only used it since then. (stupid user.)

Then I got the 'itch'... the mod bug bit hard.

I was inspired by Ben Heckendorn's Xbox 360 laptop. (I saw his three part tutorial on engadget. Ben if you read this, super thanks. You deserve money for that tutorial.) His instructions seemed really easy to follow and the more I read about it, the more I wanted to try it. But, a 360 is expensive to 'mess with' and a massive failure could mean that I was out a whole wack of $. So I thought I'd try it with an original xbox.

There were quite a few differences between the xbox1 and the xbox 360, so I had to make some stuff up as I went along.

I also had to learn how to soldier, how to use a multimeter, how to use a continuity tester (had no idea what that was), and even how to use hot glue and a dremel tool.

Yea, I'm a total noob.

Now, you're all probably going "why the hell would you try such a project on your first attempt?"

and the answer is: I didn't know any better.

Google and forums like this are amazing when you're in over your head, and my thanks for all those people who have 1000's of posts helping people who are lost in the dark. I try and do all my reading before asking stupid questions on the forums, and hopefully I've studied enough and read all the rules so I don't end up stepping on my pee-pee too much in the future.

Please keep in mind, this is my first mod, there are MANY things I'll be doing differently when version two comes along. Also, this is not a completely completed project. I'll have it all up and sealed by this weekend.

I have to give you props. I really like the case, or so I think. I can't really specify what I like about it because the picture isn't that high of quality, but it does look sleek from the provided view.

the screen in the pictures is in a frame that I made. The screen sits face down on top of the case of the guts and is attached to the whole she-bang with two bolts that it rotates around. Basically acting like a hinge for the screen which flips up like a laptop.

like I said, not super portable. (ie: it doesn't run on batteries or have a built in controller.)

OK, so the power thing is fixed. Long story short... it cost me some money and now it's fixed.
