Portable DVD player w/ NES emulator? Wtf.

I have seen a bunch of portable DVD units on Ebay
claiming to be able to play the old 8-bit NES games.
Has anyone out there bought one of these and how
well does it actually work? It comes with a CDR with
around 300 NES games, but I wonder if you can also
burn your own NES rom CD and run it on this machine.

Can I just dump a bunch of .Nsf files onto a CDR and
run it, or is it some kinda specially formatted thing like
it is for running It Might Be NES on a hacked PS1??
I wanna know before I buy one of these things.

there was a thread about this on NesDev (http://nesdev.parodius.com/bbs) and someone bought one and said the games ran at like 1/3 speed or something so they weren't even worth playing. It seems to me something must have been wrong because it would be pretty dumb to blatantly infringe copyrights and not even make them run CLOSE to properly. Also, the roms apparently are the real NES rom with a sort of emulator/runtime file attached at the beginning with operating instructions. Sort of an emulator+game all-in-one deal for each game. Search around NesDev for more specifics on it, I'm going off of memory here.

Crap... I was either gunna get this DVD thingie, or a GP2X,
but I've heard they have pretty bad frameskip issues as well.
Every vid I've seen has it speeding up and slowing down.

Youtube were of the GP2X playing Super Nintendo files.
Out of curiosity, how well would GP2X run fan-trans'd
Roms such as Seiken Densetsu 3 or Tales of Phantasia?

GP2x is obviously the better option... in every way. this should just be made into a GP2X thread and lets forget that nonsense dvd thing.

you could get a Nokia N-Gage, the only downside to that is that its hard to find new and the buttons could be better. Also, there is some sort of memory card reader-like device for the GBA that can be used for emulation

I'd be wiser to get a GP2X for $160 than that DVD player which
I've seen go as high as $270 on Ebay... from what I read on that
NES-Dev article its a formatted disc, it can't just play my Roms.

How far along is SNES emulation on the GP2X and will it ever
be as stable as ZSNES on a home computer? I remember
running ZSNES smooth as silk even on an old Celeron w/ win98.
