i have a linksys WRT54GS wireless router. It worked fine before, and then i reformatted. I installed my internet drivers, and installed all the software for the router (not having plugged in any ethernet cables yet.) So i do the router software stuff, and it can't detect the router, but i still connect to the internet, but it is extremely slow (web pages don't load half the time.) Then i try it without running through the router, and everything is super fast. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Unplug it and plug it back in. Also, why would reinstall the software? AFAIK it's only for setting up the initial settings, and doesn't even need to on a PC after that, I set mine up through the web interface instead.
Are you sure that you're connected to your wireless router? I'd make sure that the SSID of the network that you're connected to is the same as what's set up in your wireless router, as you may have accessed another wireless router from one of your neighbors' houses that isn't encrypted.
