I have started to build my xbox laptop. i dont think it will run on batteries as the xbox draws way to much power. It will use a 15" or 17" lcd monitor. the power supply will be separate the actual laptop just like a real laptop. I will add a mod chip so that i can use a laptop harddrive and so that it does not need a dvd rom drive. To compensate for no actual dvd drive in the unit i decided that i will run a parallel port to the back of the laptop so that you can actually hook up a dvd rom drive when you need to load games to the harddrive. It will have a keyboard so you can smack talk or run apps. it will most likely have wireless controllers but it will also have all the ports a normal xbox has. I will also add usb ports for the other goodies ill throw in there. i would like to make this wifi, but don't know if i will or not. if you have a wireless adapter for xboxs pm me. i think that is about all for now.
Here are some pictures of the decaping job i just did. (just layed them flat) i need some way to test that these caps are right before i turn the board on so i dont fry it like i did the other. The xbox I have is version 1.4 and ii found that there is a lot of useless slots where caps should be, but there are none. Lost of hot glue was used in this process to ensure that nothing would pull off. hot glue is your best friend
I really hate my soldering iron now because i dont think it is doing such a good job. Its a radioshack 15 watt one for electronic parts but it just doesnt get the job done very well. i have another really old one that runs at like 50 or 60 watts that has a bigger tip, but heats the solder way better. my old one doesn't burn me as much for some reason. well anyway here are the pictures of the cap job.
