GH3 guitar problem (NEW PROBLEM!!!)

The A button works randomly. I tried cleaning the contacts but nothing changes. sometimes it'll play a whole song with it working, sometimes i'll get boo'd of stage because of. I got it at goodwill for $50 BTW

EDIT: I cleaned the contacts and it didnt work at all for a while, than it kicked in and now its working pretty fine but its happening randomly again.

How can I fix it?

and it was brand new, as in target donated it yesterday, but people were foolin' around with it.

I think I figured out why:

I have a new problem. whenever I play online, It says "connecting to game" than it says "connection failed". It did this a bunch of times, i've played other games on xbox live, help?
