Speed of Emulators based on Memory Stick speed?

Simple question: Does the speed of your memory stick affect how fast N64 emulators run? I know it speeds up PSP game ISOs and the like, but does the same hold true for N64 ROMs?

I don't think so, I have a fast one and the N64 emulator is still VERY slow.
