Fixing a Sony Vaio

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

I've got an old Vaio sitting around, with a Pentium III. When I got it, the computer booted fine, but no OS would install, it would stop/crash halfway through each time. I thought it was a harddrive problem, so I replaced the measly 20 gig drive with a brand new 80 gig drive. Worked just fine, detected the drive, but yet again, no OS will install, an error occurs each time during installation. Is there any way to fix this, or perhaps find a solution to this problem, or should I just sell the thing? I need a computer for school, and currently my OQO serves this purpose, but one needs to go, as I need cash too. So if I can fix this laptop, then I can sell the OQO to buy some presents this holiday season for my family members.

The problem could be bad RAM... :?

Why not hold onto the OQO and sell the laptop? Granted the OQO will sell for more, but I think it's worth keeping.
