what exactly does the screen show? A weird flickering? (might just be the SNES)

nope. shows a black screen BUT flickers (one time) if I hit the 50/60Hz switch.

did you try...blowing the cartridge?
What game are you using anyway?
Doesn't sound like a TV-Problem to me.
