You had a theory, and I have proven you right. I don't see what the problem is with that?

who here has a schematic for one of those babies, since that can clearly be used for a Pal/NTSC mod

Yes. While composite video and composite sync share a pin on PAL, they are seperated on NTSC.

can you test it with a geman scart cable, I don't think they would change anything but I would like conformation that the thing supports RGB fully, and s-video for that matter as well

Well I have this cheap thirdparty gamecube scart cable, I'm not even sure if it SUPPORTS s-vid... but in theory it should work.
for reference;

but I'll get right on testing that.
Okay, seems like my TV actually doesn't support s-vid. Which is very odd.

That isn't too odd. I don't have a SINGLE TV with S-vid input!

Yeah, at least you guys in Europe were smart enough to use an RGB based standard. For whatever dumb reason we Americans decided composite is the way to go. <img src="
http://www.skytroniks.com/images/databa ... es/wtf.gif "> It's smear-tastic! (Seriously, composite sucks monkey butt. Red gets smeared, and sharp edges wind up with this dot crawl effect that makes small text on DVD menus illegible on more inexpensive TVs.) Component video was as close to real RGB as we got until HDMI saved the day.

That, and our TVs can do both PAL _and_ NTSC.

So can most of ours nowadays. Besides, your TVs may have a nicer standard, but you guys have virtually no games to play on them; not to mention that when you do get them, it's a good year after us!
