reminds me of a joke I heard:
A pirate walks into a bar with a peg leg, a hook arm, and a steering wheel on his crotch. The bartender said to the pirate, "hey, isn't that steering wheel uncomfortable?" The pirate replied, "yarg, it's driving me nuts."

Um, I meant it is driving ME nuts! Whoops!
Man, just in the last day I've tried 2 ways of reconnecting it. Right now I've got the card edge of an old (read: busted) expansion pak connected to a good one. Everything is wired correctly and big traces have extra (redundant) wires.
And it STILL does work! When I plug in the jumper pak it DOES, however.
Thoughts:
The battery pack is down to about 8.45 volts (out of a possible 10.8 volts) Could it be possible that the expansion pak might draw enough extra power that the 8.45 volts isn't cutting it (especially since the screen is on) The expansion pak is heatsinked so it must use a decent amount of power.
So I'm recharging the built-in batteries right now. I seriously haven't fully charged these batteries EVER (and I've had them for a year, surprized they've still got juice)
I've tried that "unplug the pak, then turn it on, then unplug the cartridge etc" thing - doesn't seen to do it. When I put the jumper pak in it just fires right up.
Seriously I hope I get this working soon- any suggestions will help! I actually saw the blasted edges of the expanion pak IN MY DREAMS last night - that can't be a good sign!

Speaking of humor, here's a lame one:
A priest, a rabbi and a nun walk into a bar together. Bartender looks up and says 'What is this, a joke?"
Um... sounds funnier spoken I guess
I'm thinking of just ditching the expansion pak and using a sawed-off jumper pak. I can't spend anymore time on this thing without actually having my brain (and its 3 remaining cells) explode.
If I can get a sawed-off jumper pak to work I may just use it and say "BLANK this!" and finish it. Seriously, with the pak working I could have it done in an hour. Pathetic!

HURRAY!!!
I'm all excited to see it now, so hurry! N64 is my favorite system to portablize so this is something I have been looking forward to
Kind of a bummer the expansion pack dosn't work, but but like the guys at EB say every time I ask for one "You don't need it to play games, the jumper pack works just fine." I hate those EB idiots!
But anyway an N64P with a jumper pack is better than no N64P at all
Can't wait to see the story!
