Firefox bookmarks AGAIN.

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

Firefox bookmarks AGAIN.

Post by Kurt_ »

Since my last topic about firefox bookmarks (which I can't find), a few things have happened:

1) My bookmarks have deleted themselves several more times.

2) Bookmarks on the OTHER computer deleted themselves, too.

What is going on? I can't find anything on this issue (the words delete and bookmark brings up tons of pages about how to delete bookmarks)

Go to C:, "documents and settings", "your username on xp", "application data" (might be hidden), "mozilla", "firefox", "profiles", "the randomly generated profile". Now, in there is an HTML document named "bookmarks", which is where your bookmarks are stored (imagine that). There is also a folder called "bookmarkbackups", which contains 5 backups of the bookmark files (it creates them every few days, I think). So you just copy the most recent backup into the next folder up, and you rename it "bookmarks" so it'll replace the empty bookmarks document.

I had this happen to my once, I almost crapped myself until I went searching through the files and found an empty HTML file named bookmarks, and a folder a couple inches away that had 5 300kb HTML files. Good thing they named everything the way a normal person could understand.
