New Wii update and user agreement

Post by tom61 »

The update features:
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/system ... atures.jsp

New User agreement:
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/system ... cyEULA.jsp

The good: USB keyboards work in the web browser and message board.

The bad: New user agreement explicitly lets Nintendo brick your console if you have an "unauthorized device or any non-licensed accessory". Hopefully they just mean mod chips. Also, they now have the right to push a system update on you without your permission or knowledge. Apparently, if you've agreed to the internet/Wiiconnect24 access before this, you automatically agree to this new agreement.

Wow, and people call Microsoft's EULA strict and oppressive...

Yeah, that's pretty bad. This does sound a lot like Microsoft. WGA and automatic updates...
