Weird windows update,

Hey, My freind Adam today, got a weird windows update for his windows XP home.

It basically changed one thing on his desktop. It changed the taskbar.

Now instead of a green button that says "Start", it just has the windows XP logo.

(Then he set the windows taskbar color to black. So it looks like vista. Sorta.)

How do I get this update? I'm running Windows XP Media Center edition.

I want this update.

According to engadget it's a new beta. You'll be able to get it fairly soon. I think.

It's probably a hack, not an update. Search for "change start menu text".

There's better ways to make your XP machine look like Vista, ya know. Windowblinds + wincustomize will do. (Though honestly, I tried those third party theming programs, and they made the system feel clunky.)

lol ive found tuneup utilities 2007 works the best you can change boot screen log on screen and custom icon packages, and visulations... so its a all in one pm me for more info

Try Vista transformation pack.
It will change almost everything to look like Vista.

Vista Transformation Pack will replace many of the resources in Windows XP/Windows Server 2003. It can change such things as:

I dont like the vista transform pack, as if you try to change it back to look like windows xp, you get reg errors.

Also, I just want more info about this update.

I can recommend Vista transformation pack too, I've been using it for a while on a fairly average machine and it hasn't caused any notable lag as some people say, and it's never caused any problems for me.
Also, when you've installed it, if you want to go really like vista, use some of the extra tools from here http://www.jcxp.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=16269

I tried it and it was ok, I still like tune up utilities 2007 i found it to be much more user friendly as i had that certain update and had to go through my registry to delete the update that causes problems with the vista pack install... im going to stick with tune up util 2007 thanks for the info anyway
