Hacking DS games

Post by khaag »

Is there a method to somehow "plug in" a DS cart into my computer to read/write data to the actual cart? And if so, where can I find it?

Retail DS carts are not writable.

If DS games are anything like GBC/GBA games, then the game is stored in non-writeable memory and save data is on a small (non-)volatile flash chip. Why not look for a flash cartridge?

I wanna know how this guy did this. It seems as though he opened up the cart and modified the save file somehow...

I think by "opened" they mean "opened the box". :P

They're probably using a Gameshark, CodeBreaker, or some custom built typically-for-rom-dumping hardware to mess with the save files.

I used to use something called REIN by SaTa to rip my save data to my Supercard. You can also use an program for the DS called WRG Dumper to dump NDS ROMs from the carts to a flashcart.

That guy just cheated. That doesn't require any talent. I would be surprised if there were korean bootlegs for the DS already

On the topic of DS hacking, would it be possible to make my own "Halo DS" with a .nds file of rogue agent and some Halo models/maps?
Why is it that every time I post in a thread, it dies?

If someone released the patch, then yes you could.

DS Cards are read only, so no info besides the save file can be written to them. (Yes, Save Files can be sent by homebrew programs)

Would I really need a patch? I couldn't just open the file myself and change every thing around?

How smart are you? For some reason I don't think you can do it. It's not a simple dragging and dropping of files you know.
