Hiding IP

My guess is that just like 99/100 of the internet, he's one that thinks that people can hack into a computer by just using an IP address.

All that it could possibly help with would be if a wireless AP was using MAC filtering. I can't really think of any other reason for saying that.

Nah. I read it in my hacking book. Its called: Hacking: The Art of Exploitation by Jon Erickson.

Its actually an okay book. Isn't confusing if you have knowledge with java and such. (<3 Java class this semester.)

Sure, I know you cant get into someones pc with JUST their IP. But its one of those key items that helps a hacker. If that hacker knows more about you and your data and stuff like that well then your screwed.

I use XP-Antispy, it is freeware, and gives you lots of options (eg removing Messenger completely, disable ActiveX, etc), including making your computer invisible on the internet.

I know it works, my ISP is AOL but I use Firefox as my browser. AOL has trouble knowing my screenname and I can't use its FTP as it doesn't know I am present; and trying Shield-Up (a program to test how vulnerable your system is to attack) it says:

My IP address is not hidden, but this security does eliminate a lot of other issues with nasty programs.
