Guitar Hero III + GlovePIE?

Post by Super Cameraman »

I don't really know anything about GlovePIE except that it allows you to use a Wii remote with a computer.

My question is how likely do you think that the Guitar Hero III controller for the Wii will be able to work with a computer? I'm probably buying the game, but knowing that I could use the controller with Frets On Fire would be a huge bonus.

Very likely, as far as I know it just uses the same signal that the classic controller/nunchuck uses. Pretty sure glovepie registers the input of those.

Ya what gannon said. It stil will probably use a different protocol to prevent people from just modding their classic controllers. (knowing nintendo)

But this isn't a first party controller is it? I thought Red Octane, or whoever makes Guitar Hero, also makes the controllers. Modding a classic controller would be sweet though!

Ya it would be. But nintendo is basicly gonna work "next to them" so they'll make sure they get their profit  .

The Wii guitar needs to have a Wii remote inside it, so the signal it sends out will be exactly the same. I'd guess there's some kind of key-mapping, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Ya but it might take a few days. (if theres enough interest) to decode a special protocol. (if applicable)

it might be in the expansion bits or in the I²C registers. You know, the expansion port uses I²C and using the memory commands with a certain flag set makes the first byte of the memory address the I²C address (speaker, IR pointer, FNURVL-based controller, other devices hooked up to the expansion port).

it will most likely be raw button data or some simple XOR encryption (like 0x17 on the FNURVL)
