How to make a lockout system

Post by Gamerdude »

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make a simple buzzer system that will prevent all the other buzzers from going off when one is pushed. I am trying ot make a buzzer system that will accomplish this and I am going to try to keep the entire project under $15. Does nayone know how to build the lockout system? Does anyone have any idea how to make the entire project?

You could use a series line of buttons that triggers, shutting off the input to the buttons, then auto-resets after a bit or you have to push another button to reset.

Do they make a type of relay that will stay in position even once the coil is unenergized? I am still thinking of how this might work, I think I can do it with a standard relay and a timer but I may not be able to.

A transistor should stay in it's last switched position if left floating

That's what I was thinking. I think I will be able to make one now. If I am successful I will post a diagram of how it works and all but i doubt anyone here will want to make one unless they want to play a game with their friends, "whoever hits the button first gets to play Halo 3 first"

Try a latching relay?

What, I need to go back and do the whole electronics course again.

I would like to use transistors since they are so compact but how would I wire up more than two of them, could someone please make a diagram?

you mean a MOSFET transistor.

BJT transistors need a current from the base to the emitter for any current to flow from the collector.

Its still a pretty shanty solution. floating = bad.

Why float when you can swim?

Because swimming is hard and takes more energy. :P

Swimming gets you places.

I prefer running though, one advantage of being tall.
