Well I got home late today after having to return a PSP Slim to exchange it for another one (dead pixel). When I got home there was a package from live search club and I was so pumped that it just had to be a Zune since everyone else was getting them. Well photos below show it was a Vista Ultimate. I believe I just filled in all the answers of flexicon manually (had answers) and ordered June 28th and I was zeroed. Pics below:

Decent computer means nothing to Vista. If it already has XP on it, sell Vista. If it doesn't have XP, still sell Vista, then you'll have money to buy XP and something else. I doubt there'd be much of a difference between XP and Vista on something that slow.
That machine should run Vista Ultimate without issue. The specs you listed are very similar to the PC i have it running on at home. In fact, your processor is better than mine and RAM is the same. I'm guessing I have you beat on the video card, but that will only keep you from running AERO as was mentioned previously. Not really a big loss.
It's been rocking on my home computer for somewhere around six months and I have no complaints.
If I were to install Vista on my machine and dual boot it with XP, would I still encounter the problems people have when playing XP games in Vista (noting, obviously, that I would play the XP games in the XP OS)? I read about a restore point problem when you have them both on the same disk, but since I'm hurtin' for space, a purchase of Vista would probably be accompanied with a new hard drive (no component is safe from the reach of the Windows Registry! Mwahahahahaha!).
