Intec Screen Pad: No video.

Intec Screen Pad: No video.
I'm unfamiliar to the intec screen pad, so bear with me.
- It looks the same with the daughter-board removed or connected, and everything connected to different spots (Everything being video.) The most recent try was to take the board off.
- The pots did nothing even with the video attached to it's input from the controller, and power going from the Vout on the 7808.
- The screen is LED-modded.
- It's running off 4 Ni-MH batteries.
- Voltage under load is 4.73V. Without load it's around 5.0, I think.
- Yellow box (transformer?) and big chunky capacitor beside it (for the backlight, I hope) are removed.
The problem: The screen refuses to display video. All it does is sit there with it's newfangled LED mod. Mind you, I didn't try this video setup beforehand.
Unless the power line is hooked up to the wrong place (the place read a voltage of 13V or whatever it's supposed to when attached to the Wall Adapter), there is a very low chance I fried something.
Here's what's hooked up:
V+ goes from the battery to a switch. Via a thin red wire, it connects to 3rd pin from the left on the bottom of the board. (As far as I know, 1st = N/C, 2nd = Video, 3rd = V+, 4th and 5th = ?, 6th = A/V Ground, 7th = Ground, 8th = ?)
The green wires are attached to a new composite cable and hooked up to a working PS1. Video In (not attached in picture) is hooked up to pin 2. A/V Ground is hooked up beside power ground on pin 6. Battery ground is hooked up to pin 7. Other than these 2 wires, the 2 systems are not attached by anything. Should they be?
LED Mod: A thin red wire goes from V+ to the LEDs to a 10 ohm resistor, then to a ground spot where the big chunky capacitor was.
Te ribbon cable is in firmly.
What am I missing? I read something about separate grounds. Could someone elaborate?

Embarrassingly enough, I had this problem as well but was never able to fix the damn thing - and I never even applied a LED mod! I figured it was a grounding problem and due to my impatience and not documenting anything, I was unable to find the problem.

Not when I did that. Right now everything is hooked up to how it originally was, except the parts I took off are still off, and the batteries are only powering the LEDs. I didn't want to put 13V through the 4 LEDs with a 10 ohm resistor. And I especially didn't want to clip any cable that would result in a non-functioning setup. Then I would definitely be screwed.
However, be my guest to try! Unless you can find an easy through-hole wire to disconnect V+ from getting to the screen. Then I will try the current setup with batteries.
EDIT: No such wire exists, but clipping the power wire half-way down would work. However, I'm in that mood where I usually fry things or do something wrong, and my hands feel like they'd be shaky, so I choose not to proceed. Feel free to try it yourself, though.

Got my super joy today, but am still sick.
Instead of just wiring things together until something works, try thinking logically.
To get video and sound on the intec screen, there are 7 connections.
Dark Blue = Positive
Light Blue = Negative
Teal = Audio Right
White = Audio Left
Black = Ground for audio and video
(it was wrapped around the pink)
Pink = Video
Sound should not be necessary, so that leaves:
Dark Blue = Positive
Light Blue = Negative
Black = Ground for audio and video
(it was wrapped around the pink)
Pink = Video
I have figured out that the entire daughter board is for the audio and the pots. So you should need to connect V+ to the batteries, V- to the battery ground, Audio/Video Ground to the Audio/Video Ground, and the Video wire to the source video. It should work fine then. If it doesn't it might need more voltage.
Seems logical enough.
So to check the voltage at which the whole screen drops out, hook it up so everything works, and attach a pot to the V+ line, and slowly bring it down until it shuts off.

just got back from work and I was talking to my manager ( into electronics also, even has one of these and doesnt even want the screen portion) he gave me some things to try.
try some tantalum or mica caps from the board to the power supply, because the screen doesn't like unregulated power very much. other than that he said try a 7805 and a 7.2 volt power supply and see if that makes a difference.
I do not know if I will have much time tonight I have a few papers to write but I'm hoping they will quick writeups
